     Explanation of Abbreviations and Codes

     SPECID = Individual Burial Number
         First number is excavation locale
             1 = BC, 1974 excavation
             2 = BCES, 1975 excavation

         followed by two spaces and then the burial identification number.
            Example: 1 14 is BC Burial 14

     AGE
         ADOL = Adolescent (15-20 years)
         YG ADULT = Young Adult (20-35 years)
         MIDAGE = Middle-aged Adult (35-50 years)
         OLD = Old Adult (50+ years)
         ADULT = Adult (20-50+ years)

     SEX = Sex of individual, ?female coded as FEMALE, ?male coded MALE

     SITE = Site of excavation

     YEAREXAM = Year burial was examined

     INSTCODE = Institution where burial was examined
         UHM = University of Hawaii at Manoa

     Field names consist of an articular surface labeled according to the code below, preceded by R (right) or L (left) to designate the side.

     The scoring system for osteoarthritis on each surface is as follows:
         0 = none
         1 = slight
         2 = moderate
         3 = marked

     ACCLVST = Acromioclavicular, clavicle

     STCLV = Sterno-clavicular, clavicle

     ACCLV = Acromioclavicular, scapula

     GLENOID = Glenoid fossa, scapula

     HUMHD = Humeral head

     CAPIT = Capitulum

     TROCH = Trochlea

     RADHD = Radial head

     DISTRAD = Distal radius

     PROXULN = Proximal ulna

     DISTULN = Distal ulna

     SACOIL = Sacroiliac

     ACETAB = Acetabulum

     FEMHD = Femoral head

     FEMCON = Femoral condyle

     PATELLA = Patella

     PROXTIB = Proximal tibia

     DISTIB = Distal tibia

     PROXFIB = Proximal fibula

     DISTFIB = Distal fibula

     CALCAN = Calcaneus

     TALUS = Talus

     TARSAL = Tarsals

     CARPALS = Carpals

     METARS = Metatarsals

     METCAR = Metacarpals

     HNDPHL = Hand phalanges

     FOOTPHL = Foot phalanges

     TMJ = Temporo-mandibular joint

     OCCIPCD = Occipital condyles

     MANDCON = Mandibular condyle
